For quick and easy navigation, the Philips Xenium 9@9m has a 2.5″, 176×220 pixels, 262K color TFT display. The touch screen and on-screen handwriting recognition capability (in both Chinese and English) allow for easy messaging - just write as you would on a piece of paper and the phone will convert it to an SMS message.

The image, audio and video features will capture what text cannot. The 2 megapixel still camera has an 8x zoom and integrated flash with a picture resolution setting of up to 1600×1200 and a night and self-timer mode. The video camera lets you record MPEG4 or H263 format, with playback capability on your phone or PC. The audio recording feature can record up to 30 minutes of audio.

The Xenium provides a superior audio experience on the go. Use the data cable or the Mini SD card expansion slot to transfer MP3 music files to your phone for playback or to personalize your ringtone. There are 70 MB of user memory on the phone itself, supported by the Mini SD card.

With Bluetooth connectivity, the Philips Xenium 9@9m has wireless capability, but also connects to your PC via USB 1.1 and a headset with a mini USB connector. It has modem capabilities using CSD, GPRS and SMS.

Operating on the GSM 900/1800/1900 bands, services include OTA provisioning (WAP,MMS), SIM Toolkit / Release 99 and WAP 2.0, with a FR/EFR/AMR voice codec and Class 10 (4+2) and Class B GPRS. It messages via Long SMS, e-mail, EMS/release 4, MMS, SMS CB, SMS, and SMS multi-target.

Of course, Xenium 9@9m comes with the standard convenience features you expect. Call history & counters are included, as well as call waiting, caller ID, call transfer, muting, hands free mode, hot keys, keypad lock, and vibra alert. The applications provided include an alarm clock, calculator, calendar, ENG-CHN and CHN-ENG dictionary, international converter and Sudoku game among others.

The 105 x 50 x 17.3 mm handset comes in your choice of Executive Silver or Rusted Brown, weighing 109g with battery. Included in the standard purchase package are the battery, a CD ROM (with mobile phone tools), a charger, a stereo headset, one stylus, the user manual, a USB data cable and handset.
